1) The first question people ask? How much will it cost? Please tell other guests whether you felt that the property was a good value at the
price. Did the pricing compare favorably with other properties?
-Yes, the pricing compared favorably.
-My Husband, Son and I stayed at the Fourth of July House in June in the Guest House. We felt for the price, we received a very
good deal. Here's why: After doing a hotel search, we realized, after taxes we would be spending MORE than what we spent at the
Guest House. Not to mention the high cost of eating every meal out AND having only one room. At the Guest House, we had a
separate bedroom, a flat screen tv, dvd player, a full kitchen, extra towels for both the beach and the bath.. She even retrieved
several beach toys for my two year old so we could have even more fun at the beach.
Other properties were more expensive, and while closer to the ocean, I felt that the "high rises" with balconies was NOT a good fit
for my little one. I felt very safe in the very private and enclosed courtyard to allow him to run around to his heart's content.
2) The second concern people have is whether the home is clean and in good repair. Did you find it so? Would you say it was better than or
not as good as vacation rentals you have booked in the past?
-The vacation house was clean and in good repair. Definitely better than average.
-The Guest House was very clean. I also was able to tour the main house and it was beautiful. Every room has a flat screen tv and
a very deluxe queen size bed. The master had a fire place with a balcony and views of the ocean. Both the main house and the
guest house are very clean. and everything worked. I can also tell you that if I had had a problem, Meredith would have come over
right away and fixed it.
3) And there is always concern for safety and security – Did you find the neighborhood safe and attractive? Was the neighborhood and the
beach family friendly?
-The neighborhood was fine.
-The neighborhood was fine. We met the neighbors even and had conversations with them and they had all been living in this area
a long time and had no complaints. We asked them.
4) What about the location? Did you like the proximity to the pier and harbor? Did you like being close to downtown Oceanside ? What about
the greater region? Did you find it convenient to be centrally located between the LA/Hollywood/Disney area, and the San Diego area with its
harbors, Sea World, Zoo and Balboa Park museums?
-We liked the little area where we stayed. And, we liked the greater region. We loved being close to Legoland and the
Wild Animal Park,and didn't mind the drive into San Diego for the attractions there. We never went north to the LA
area.
-The location is great. It is just enough off the beaten path we didn't have to worry about crowd control or noise pollution. We
could stroll the sidewalks in the evening and take the commuter or access the freeway in less than 5 minutes. We would definitely
stay here again!
5) What about comfort? Were the beds comfortable? Did you enjoy the crisp, professionally laundered, cotton bedding? Did you have enough
pillows?
-We thought the house was great. We had 2 families of 4 and found that the configuration of rooms allowed for the
families to have their separate space. We loved all the outdoor spaces -- from the interior courtyard to the grassy front
to the two decks.
-The pillows. I wanted to steal them! They weren't foam! I think some of them were imitation down or even the real deal. My head
just disappeared into them. The only complaint I have is this: It was so damn bright in that bedroom at 5:30 in the morning! If you
could make the windows darker that would be great! It did get a bit hot towards the end of our trip. An oscillating fan would have
been nice.
6) Traveling with children… Was the “kid-friendly” environment helpful? Is there anything more we can provide that would make it easier for
you to travel with children?
-I don't really remember the house being particularly kid-friendly or not kid-friendly. But we had 4 kids there: 2 7-year-
olds and 2 5-year-olds, and they had a great time. I don't remember there being any concerns about the kids or their
safety.
7) Beach gear… Did the beach accouterments – boogey boards, sand toys, beach cart, kites, beach towels, beach chairs, and portable cooler –
make your stay easier and more fun?
-I don't remember there being any beach accouterments.
-I didn't see the cooler. We had our own so it was no big deal, but all of the beach gear was great! Our boy even played with it
every morning in the private patio area..
8) The owner/manager – was she friendly, courteous and responsive to your needs? When you inquired about the property did you receive a
prompt response? Were your questions answered? Did you find her easy to work with? Did the contract and payment process go smoothly?
Were there any unpleasant surprises?
-We didn't meet the owner/manager.
-Meredith was so nice that she came by to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed - she was wonderful. I was
impressed with her treatment of me as a person not just a dollar in your wallet. I thought for a flash you were too good to be true.
But you kept showing up and being kind so I knew you were a good person.
9) The website – was our website (www.wsl4rent.com) helpful in making your decision to choose to book with us? Did you find the other sites
(VRBO, HomeAway, A-1 Vacations, and VacationRentals) easy to use and helpful?
-There wasn't a website at the time that we rented.
-The only thing I would add is a price list on the WSL website as well as some photos of the guest house. Otherwise, I am
recommending it to a few other folks I know.
-Overall comments:
-We found the 4th of July House to be delightful. It accommodated 2 families (4 adults, 4 kids) very nicely, giving each
family their own space, with plenty of space large enough to come together as a group. The kitchen was well equipped
and we enjoyed cooking our dinner on the grill and eating in the private courtyard. The landscaping was very nice, and
we enjoyed watching hummingbirds drinking from the flowers as we drank our coffee in the morning.
